2. What personal data we collect
We believe in collecting as little data as possible. Here is exactly what we collect:
- Contact and correction details: If you use our contact or correction form, we collect your name, email address, message, and any item name, barcode, page address or evidence link you choose to provide. We use this to review your report, reply where necessary and maintain an audit trail for accepted corrections.
- Analytics: We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. This is a privacy-first analytics service that does not use cookies, does not collect personal identifiers, and does not track you across other websites.
- Bot protection: Our correction form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which processes minimal browser and device signals to distinguish people from automated submissions and protect the email service from abuse. See Cloudflare's Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
Cookies: This website does not set any cookies on your device.
3. Why we collect it (Lawful Basis)
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), we rely on the following lawful bases:
- Legitimate Interests: For our analytics, which help us improve the website without identifying individual visitors.
- Consent or Contract: When you contact us directly, we process your information to respond to your request.
- Legitimate Interests: When you submit a correction or suggestion, we process the report to improve the accuracy, safety and usefulness of the website and to prevent abuse of the submission service.
4. Affiliate links
Low Carb Life is a participant in the Amazon Associates UK programme. This means we may earn a small commission if you click on a link to Amazon and make a purchase.
When you click an affiliate link, you leave our website and go to a third-party retailer. Their own privacy policy will then apply. We do not place any tracking pixels or scripts on this site for affiliate tracking purposes.
5. Data retention
We only keep your data for as long as is necessary. If you contact us or submit a correction, we keep the message long enough to resolve or verify it and for a reasonable period thereafter to provide follow-up support and document why published content changed, unless you ask us to delete it.
6. Third party services
We use a small number of trusted services to run the site:
- Cloudflare: Used for hosting, speed (CDN), privacy-first analytics and Turnstile bot protection. Cloudflare is a US-based company but uses Standard Contractual Clauses to ensure your data is protected to UK GDPR standards.
- Resend: Used to deliver contact and correction-form emails to us and confirmation emails to submitters. See Resend's privacy policy.
We do not use advertising networks or social media tracking pixels.
7. Your rights
You have several rights under UK GDPR, including the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct any mistakes in your data.
- Ask us to delete your personal data.
- Object to or restrict the way we process your data.
If you are unhappy with how we have used your data, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
