How we research our content

Low Carb Life is built to be useful in a UK supermarket, restaurant or kitchen. These are the checks behind what you see.

Who writes the site

The site is written and maintained by Paul, the founder of Low Carb Life. Paul writes from personal experience of long-term low-carb eating and researches UK-specific products, labels and guidance. He is not a doctor or dietitian, and the site does not present personal experience as medical advice.

Health and nutrition guidance

Health articles prioritise current UK primary and authoritative sources, including the NHS, NICE and Diabetes UK where relevant. We distinguish established guidance from emerging evidence and include medication or GP cautions when a dietary change could require clinical support.

Supermarket products

Product nutrition is shown only after it has been matched to manufacturer data through Open Food Facts by barcode or checked from a product label. UK carbohydrate figures already exclude fibre, so we do not subtract fibre a second time. Retailer availability is tracked separately because a correct nutrition label does not prove that a shop still stocks the product.

Eating-out guides

Restaurant figures come from official chain nutrition tools, menus or published nutrition documents. We keep dated source snapshots so recommendations can be checked against the information available when a guide was prepared. Menus vary by location and change over time, so visitors should confirm current details before ordering.

Dates and corrections

Articles show their original publication date and, when materially revised, a separate updated date. Product grids state when nutrition data was last verified and how many availability checks have supporting evidence. If you spot something that looks wrong or out of date, please send us the product, page and source so it can be checked and corrected.
